Re: 5.7 Vortec for 72 C20

I'm running a Mighty Mite now. I wasn't too sure about it when I first got it but it has worked just fine. I'm still running an in cab tank and mounted the pump on the frame under the cab. There are two versions of the mighty mite, be sure to get the higher volume pump. You shouldn't need a pressure regulator with this pump, I took my regulator off and haven't had any problems.
I'm running a MSD 85551 and a 6AL box left over from a hot 383 I had in my truck for a short while. I have a MSD HEI that I was planning to install but never did, just keeping it for a spare right now. Be sure to get a melonized gear not a melonite coated gear.
I'm running headers but ram horns should work without any problem. You can get ram horns in 2 1/2 inch which is what I was planning to get if I hadn't already had the headers left over from the 383. I've got the Headman headers with the ball flange, they don't use a flange gasket and I have to admit that I do like them.
BTW, I like my GM Vortec crate engine and wouldn't trade it for any other motor out there. Get the L31-R, it's a 4 bolt and has heavy duty valves.
