TH400 rebuild: Output shaft difficult to turn

Hey all, I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 2wd TH400 and everything is going great except for the fact that I can hardly get the output shaft to turn by hand. Even with none of the clutches installed it was pretty difficult (requiring 2 hands), and now that everything but the pump is installed I can't get it to move without a lot of grunting and cussing.

My guess is that the tailshaft bushing isn't installed perfectly straight, or maybe it has a bit of a lip from when I installed it. Either way, do I have to rip this thing down and start over? Or is this considered normal? Tailshaft end play is in spec, so I don't think it's binding laterally...

Thoughts?
