People all over the world call their own stuff "junk". It's probably just the idea that no matter how good we think our vehicles are, we know somebody has gone to greater lengths to create theirs. Of course, it could just be the joke about opposites. Kind of like calling a big guy "Tiny".
Also, your collection sounds pretty good.
