To Jesse. I'm not doing a full rebuild yet. You must have mistaken someone else's post as mine.

To CUDA8U. This is a daily driver. I can't go all out and build 500hp toy.

To weq and geezer. I definitely see your point on that lobe went somewhere.lol. Cams have been changed out after wiping lobes without encountering new problems. I do understand its iffy though. The cam is 168 plus the cost of gaskets so it wouldn't be a grand. Doing the swap myself of course.

I've thought about new engines,383ht,building a 383.going with a 400sb,Rebuilding my 350. After all the thought and research I've even though of just a stock rebuild and be done with it. It's an overwhelming task deciding what to do. I've already got a 700r4 tranny installed. I haven't taken the pan off the rear end yet but will wind up with 373s one way or another.

This is a daily driver. I'd love 25 mpg but I know that won't happen. I'd love a 454 but don't want 6-8 mpg either. It's hard to find a happy medium. I'm looking for a good efficient engine to build and opinions are definitely wanted. I'll be driving this truck all over the nation as I already have.
