why are you worried about the mounts being on the frame? just the length?

I built my last set of mounts to the frame, there are no issues. the front crossmember is used to carry suspension loads, not the motor. the angle of the mounts (up to the motor) means the legs are in compression with the weight of the motor on them, thats a very hard design to break.
