Ignition Trouble. Need some help.

Third part of the ignition saga with my '67.

Truck is not starting again. Turns over, has power all the way to the "BATT" spade connection on the HEI, fuel smell tells me gas is flowing, but it isn't starting. I suspect the ignition module has gone bad, and removed the distributor cap to get at the module.

When I got the cap off I found a nice, clean ground wire running from an intake manifold stud at the back of the engine up to . . .nothing. The end of the wire is stripped, the wire strands are twisted together. Its is clean, and it obviously goes somewhere. Question is, where? PO did it. Its short. Only about long enough to reach the passenger side of the distributor.

So, my question is, how many wires run to a '79 350 HEI? 'got the two going to the "TACH" spade and "BATT" spade on the drivers side, and I've got the plastic connector with wires that attaches under those two spades. The connector snaps into place. Any other wiring that goes to the HEI? Is it possible that the ground goes into the wires in the plastic connector on the drivers side of the HEI? Does that connector have a ground in it?

Thanks for any info you might have.
