The lower pic is more like the GM OEM L6 unit.
Here's mine from when I had a Pertronix coil, before I went to HEI.
The forward bolt [3/8- 18] screws into the illustrated hole, aft of it, a "hook" fits ito a second bolt hole at the radius of the coil.
