For my truck, I used the Windstar fan assy. Paid $30 from the local boneyard. The truck was originally a 6cyl. with A/C, so the radiator was a decent size that I would try for my LS swap (5.3L/4L60E), before going larger, if I had to. I made a simple lower shelf from 3/4" aluminum, that I riveted to the lower core frame, put in two screws to act as guide pins for the Windstar shroud, drilled two corresponding holes in the shroud so that the pins would locate/hold the fan assy. in place against the radiator core. The upper radiator cover already had two threadnuts in place for the stock fan shroud, so I used those to fasten the upper Windstar assy., by making simple L brackets fastened to the shroud. All told, I think I spent less than $40. Even on a hot day in traffic, only one fan has ever turned on (yes the second fan works)
