Yeah there overrated i put one on a 73 bb 4wd blazer my cousin once had it was junky no voltage at idle.
I always put on the internal regulator alternators , its pretty easy to hook up just take the large wire off the harness that plugs into the alt and run it on the back of the alt on the charge post and run the other wire to IGN power but dont hook it to the same wire as the coil truck wont turn off like that..
and if you want an alternator larger than 60 amps dont ask for one for a 77c10 ask for one for a big caprice with elec windows or a 84 t/a ho Or a Z 28 there 95 amps
