It could very well be that you have a problem in the turn signal. If you have to push hard to get the right signal to work, that indicates an issue there. It could be that the interrupt circuit is causing problems with the right brake light.
If the right signal works, it isn't the wiring in the rear. The problem is either in your signal switch or the wiring harness under the dash.
