Is it a 3 on the tree are auto? The lower bearing on a 3 speed 67 model is held by 2 screws at the bottom but not sure on a 72. Automatic Should have the bottom spring and retainer clip as in the picture.
If it is then yes you will have to beat it off are use a puller. I would use the puller first and if that didn't work beat it off soak it good first though before you do anything they are not press fit it should slide off.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
