here is what it looks like now, in case you are interested. one shows a possibly relevant pic of the grille mocked in the opening bolted in to the fender extensions with the original style chevy rad support in place but the mustache outer parts are simply held with a magnet because my fenders are chevy parts and don't have the flat spots in the grille surround modified yet.
