both LS and SBC can be remedied with the correct pan, they have had shallow wide pans around for years for the sbc motors, they are spendy but will get the job done. the only issue will be exhaust when it comes to routing near one of those shallow pans with the large kickout.
LS have several pans available as well to fix the issue bringing the pan above the crossmember so if anything hits it would be your crossmember. search CTS-V pan.
