If there are no studs in the manifold use bolts & flat washers. 5/16 bolts coarse thread about 1 in. long prefer grade 8. be sure the bolts go in the manifold far enough especially if it an alum. manifold. Some manifolds back then had exhaust gas circulating around the back 2 studs. If that is the case make sure the studs are in good condition. Often they are corroded away.
If you put tape under the plate you can leave it on when you wash it & move it around.
I like to leave the trans in unless you need to work on it or it will be in the way.
Unless you are going raceing or pulling heavy loads, the regular parts store clutch s best. Some performance clutches take a lot of pressure to release witch makes it uncomfortable to drive & wears out the linkage & TO brg.
I like Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer. Unless you get the frame sandblasted.
I'm an old timer too. I just have to work a little at a time.
