4” seems about the max on the front, and even they rub when 2 1/2” dropped spindles are used. That’s why you see guys trimming control arms which seems less than ideal to me...

Zero offset wheels are ideal for one of these trucks in the rear. 4.5” bs on an 8” rear and 3.5” on a 7” front if it’s lowered. IF it has the 70-72 wider axle housing.

Once again, to repeat myself, 17” wheels just about the BEST mod to my truck. I would do EXACTLY the same thing again except Hankook discontinued the 235 55 17 front that matches the 275 55 17 rear. Very few options for tire size I went with 7 years later so I would consider 18’s.
