THe back side. There is no adjustment at the wedge end. No spacer is needed. The adjustment is at the z-bar end with the two jamb nuts.

Also note that there is no nut on the wedge side of the rod. You can’t use one. It needs to pivot on the fork. That’s why the hole is slotted.
