From past experience I'd use something to lube the rubber as you might end up tearing the rubber if you don't.
Watch the part where they pull the rope out at just past the 10 minute mark and you can figure out how you are going to have to roll that same rubber lip back on the other side of the pinch weld to get the rubber and glass back out. Lift, tuck, lift, tuck until you get most of it lifted and tucked on the other side so you can remove it.

Thanks for the info and video. My gasket is pretty good, so I think I will try to save it.
