Its a good idea to check out the system before condemming the pump. If it clicks but does not squirt, check the screen in the reservoir and the hose from the reservoir to the pump, (as best as you can). If that seems to be ok, try to prime the pump by pulling the hose off of the reservoir and pour the hose full while an assistant activates the switch. Sometimes you can get them going because the piston and check valves dry up if not used.

If you cannot make it work no matter what you do, then you can add a pump on by the reservoir, (or in the reservoir) and wire it in. Your pump activation switch grounds the solenoid.

Another option is to buy a new GM pump which is an improved design over the old one and it mounts like the original. They are pricey, ($55 give or take).

I have not had much luck with rebuilds, because usually the piston
wears and then the fluid leaks by, (the new pumps have a diaphram instead of a piston).
