That’s correct (looking.) I noticed my brakes were taking quite a bit of effort to stop effectively a while back. Kind of snuck up on me. Anyway, my front brake shoes were just very old and getting badly glazed. New shoes (and brake hardware) has it stopping really nicely. Not saying that’s your problem but definitely investigate.
