Yes, you should only need wires in the big connector for the back up lights and neutral safety portions of the switch. I suppose you could silicone the other area, but if it were me, I would just get the plug for it if you are getting the other plug at the junk yard or something. I may even have an extra one lying around, but I would have to check....
