When I had to replace the one on the 6.0L in my '06 Silverado, I had to use 2 extensions and a wobble with a special socket on my 3/8" ratchet to remove and replace the sending unit. i used some masking tape to hold the new sending unit in the socket and CAREFULLY threaded it into the hole (there was no way in hell I was getting my paw in there). I also set up 2 different mirrors at different angles so I could see what the heck I was doing.

I'm half bear as well...
