This Old Truck
My son Zane wrote this poem for school. I felt it was worth sharing.
The engine doesn’t run
It won’t even crank
The pistons won’t move
There stuck in place
The rear gear is bad
Might be stuck in place
It just won’t move
And it’s taking us off pace
The transmission is bad
It just won’t grab a gear
The shifter can’t move
Just not one inch
This old truck, beaten and bruised
She really looks rusty
But the body was good
The lines are even straight
But she gets torn down
Right down to the frame
Every bolt taken off
With some screams of pain
Old engine out
And next comes the trans
The new ones mount up
And bolt right in
The body goes on
Straight as a whistle
Back to the engine
Should be turn key, and ready
Key in and pray it starts
Turned the key and she starts to crank
*BANG!*
Then it comes to life
The trans goes right into gear
I go out the drive
Onto the road
So long I'm out of here in my 71 Chevrolet
