The two fittings on the tank need some sort of sealant that is gasoline resistant. I use yellow teflon tape being very careful not to wrap in on the end of the fittings. Turn them very tight - I don't care for aluminum fittings...seems they might strip easily. If the AN fitting is leaking, normally you can break it loose and re-tighten - do not use any sealant or tape on AN connections.
I would not rely on those plastic clips on the filter - I've read several issues about eventual leaks. As already mentioned, a style with an internal nut is available.
Potential gas leaks scare me.
