That sure makes sense. The books I was checking add numbers for engine size, cab to axle dimension and GVW range. Maybe they are referring to other id numbers.

chances are you were looking at a SPID decoder. The SPID (Service Parts Identification) sheet is found on the inside of the glove box door (if someone has not removed it)
