Definitely will be a snag with this drivetrain. The simplest, but least elegant solution, is to use an electric power steering pump. I'm told that Volvo used such.
A number of aftermarket companies have jumped on this problem, and offer complete front accessory replacement kits that include a steering pump.
GM's new 6.6 gas engine appears to be based on the same LT architecture, and is using a power steering pump. Hopefully the front accessories of that 6.6 will easily swap over to the other LT engines.
