Measure your original bellhousing and trans together, tip to tip, now measure the 700R4, tip to tip at the same points and subtract the difference from the driveshaft. This will work fine unless you have changed engine position also. My 71 swb with a 350 in the six location and a 700R4 bolted up has a driveshaft length of 52" from center to center of u-joints.
