I know you said the front has been updated. But have you tried parts for a 67 to 72?
Years ago I updated my 1970 3/4 ton to a 1/2 ton just using 2 inch drop spindles for disk brakes. Every thing else I replaced was factory parts for a 1970 1/2 ton.
