I have had a similar issue before with my buddy's k10, we went to the gas station put 12 gallons in and the truck would crank but wouldn't start. We traced it back and found that the mechanical fuel pump had gone out and there wasn't fuel going into the carb. We just poured some fuel into the carb and it started right up which then isolated it to a fuel issue.
