The general rule of patch panels is to leave as much original metal as possible and trim the patch panel to fit. Is your floor so bad that you really need to go back that far?
I've removed seat pedestals before; they are seriously spot welded down - to detach it would cause more problems than it fixes.
Ultimately it doesn't matter if you trim it or overlap it because it's going to be covered by sound deadener, carpet and/or floormat and never show anyway.
