Thanks a lot. I found the number on the top of the frame where you described. Never would have found it myself with all the crud on top of it. It matched the last 8 numbers of my door pillar VIN. The State Police VIN inspector I talked to today was having a major fit, saying that because there was no dash VIN tag, I would have to drive the truck to a CHP office 20 miles south of here, and leave it with them "a day or two" while they researched the vehicle history.
