PCV working correcty?

Strong oil smell under the hood or out the exhaust?

It's not belt rubber smell?

A slight leak can run onto the headers/maniflods and burn off without any drips or puddles (so can antifreeze leaks).

Is it brake fluid on the discs/drums?

Ol Blue hit on something that always takes me by surprise...when a fresh motor starts up and starts smoking the paint (or oil residues from assembly) of the manifolds.
