I did my last one - went to a local camper shop and got some 1" light weight aluminum square tubing and made a frame. Then attached 1/2" angle to the sides and made some sliding hinges for the front - I covered the top with a piece of fiberglass sheet like big freezers use, put some foam down then covered with black vynil.
Not to offend anyone but I wouldn't do the wood route - it may last for awhile but it will eventually warp and buckle - heavy too.
