Well it does appear that that is the correct cam for a tilt as it has two tits rather than the 4 that you see here https://www.fillingstation.com/detai...ANCEL_CAM.html for a non tilt. The tilt cam FS-53 is below that one on the page.
I'm going to say that the "something went wrong" factor came in to play with it being broken. Things not quite lined up right or rough handling may be it. Or just material fatigue.
