GM started offering the 5.7 diesel in`78,then the6.2 in`82.In`92 the 6.5 TurboDiesel was introduced through the`00 model years. With the birth of the Duramax in`01 came the end of the diesel Suburban.Bad choice, with the SUV dominating vehichle sales,a war in the middle east, and now fuel prices at an all-time high. All the needed was a higher trans tunnel(or body-lift as with the HD-series that the Duramax is only offered in,now). The 6.5TD was available in all body types except short bed/regular cab(1/2.3/4,&1ton).The 5.7,6.2,and 6.5s bolt-up to all GM gas engine bellhousings and motor mounts.I`m sure I`m not the only one contimplating this swap,so I`m sure they are out there.I do know a man in my area with a C20 Cheyenne PU(original owner)that had a 6.2 swapped-in back in`91.
