Did this condition exist before pulling the engine? The engine was pretty noisy and could have covered up transmission noise, but what kind of speed could you get up to before the engine work? The trans laid on it's side, under the truck. It's filled with oil, right? Did you do anything with the crank, and is the pilot bushing still in the crank? Or did you replace it?
