Wouldn't we all? But for a tool that's going to be used once, and probably never touched again, I'm not sure that preference really factors in here.

I would have some concerns with accuracy with the cheap pendulum gauges though.

Another thought, is to grab a piece of angle iron, and drill a couple of holes in it so it can be bolted to the pinion yoke or to a flat surface on the trans/t-case. Print off a paper protractor, paste that onto the angle iron, and suspend a weight in front of it. The larger your printed protractor is, the better the accuracy will be.

I'll either use the HF gauge or the DIY method when I set up my pinion angle. The digital ones aren't worth the cost to me for as little as I'll use it.
