EVs wont even work in urban areas . 90% of car owners live in apartments and condos and park on the street sometimes 2 to 3 blocks from where they live. Even the affluent who own brownstones only have street parking. Very rare and expensive to have parking in NYC so unless they put charging stations at every parking spot it wont work.

The other 10 % who do have parking it might marginally work but most of them use mass transit within the burrows. Cars are for going out of the city.
