I just wouldn't get too excited about even worrying about the hand throttle thing now. It's something that 90% of the people who had these trucks in the 40's and 50's never used unless they used them to idle the engine faster to warm it up on winter mornings.

That is also something that you can deal with much later along with the cable that goes with it. I'm thinking that they quit putting them on pickups with column shift somewhere along the line anyhow.
