My '68 C/10 Stepside was ordered with the L25 292, SM465, 3.73 12-Bolt rear, 17.5'' rims -- and not much else. Manual steering, manual drum brakes, manual 4-speed, no air, no radio, 516 Orange.
I'm sure it was a fleet truck. What fleet? I'll never know. I'm the 3rd or 4th owner.
CalTrans or Southern Pacific were both known to sport orange, but it's still wide open. Bought it in Pasadena, Calif. in '73.
The 4x4 trucks required a special diagonal crossmember to mount the 292. C/- frames had holes in the right places w/o a crossmember.

Every 25 years I like to rebuild that 292, whether it needs it or not.
