CalTrans or Southern Pacific were both known to sport orange, but it's still wide open. Bought it in Pasadena, Calif. in '73.
The 4x4 trucks required a special diagonal crossmember to mount the 292. C/- frames had holes in the right places w/o a crossmember.
That’s funny, I picked up a 72 c20 with the exact same options (plus a service bed) a few months ago. But it’s has “special paint” and was originally yellow. I suspect it was a school service truck. The bench seat had even been recovered in what looked like school bus seat leather. It was built and used in St. Louis
