You're free to do what you want, but polish/compound is what makes the paint flat/shine, and wax (or sealer, or ceramic) is what protects the finish. Get it flat (compound/polish), then get something on it. Wax/sealer/ceramic, it doesn't matter, all will work. Just choose a quality product. If you want to stick all Megiuar's, there are options in the Ultimate line for wax as well.
