Re: Are Ingersoll Rand good air compressors?

just my 2 cents worth,as said there's lots of these compressors rebranded and sold all over the place.in Canada,we have Princess Auto, our version of Harbor Freight.i bought 2 from them over the years,Campbell-Hausfield which was always a good brand.5 HP vertical 60 gallon tanks but when you look at the tag on the motor,it runs at 2800 or 3000 RPM or there abouts instead of 1750 RPM.they buzz them right up to make more power but they don't last.the pumps wear out or the electric motor gives up and because they run so fast, the air is very warm and you're draining water out of it all the time.this is,at least my experience with cheap compressors.i bought a used Saylor-Beal 5 HP compressor a few years ago, made in Michigan since 1904 or so it says on the tag, with a real 5 HP electric motor that runs at 1750 RPM and a huge pump as big as a Buick.i think it was made in the 80's and will make air for as long as i need it to,i'm sure.
