Thabks grumpy, I've seen the video you linked to while I researching about this idea and I agree with the video. But I will say that I planned a different route after giving it some thought. On the aftermarket column my friend has the 1" DD shaft extends from the column a fair amount. Enough to where I could drill and tap it for 2 5/16" bolts. In line with each other. Or perpendicular to each other for that matter. Similar to how the steering joint coupler is in that video you linked. I appreciate the info and will show the video to my friend and let him decide for himself how he wants to do it. I really wish my other friend hadn't even mentioned it to him to try and do it the way he wants.
