it still is cheaper in mom or dads name.
we have to buy our basic insurance from a gov conglomerate (ICBC) if we want additional insurance we have the option to buy private.
'bout the only good thing having to buy basic from ICBC is they don't go by age, they go by your driving record, and they don't care if your driving a Lambo, Smart car or a Firebird, basic premiums are all pretty much the same. if it was insured by my son it would cost about $2500 a yr, as he has no driving record to speak of yet. so we put it in wifes name which is $900 a yr and pay an extra $180 to have him on the policy so he can drive it....or wreck it...
