You could do a little sanding on it with some 240 or 320 sandpaper. Epoxy primer is the wise choice to go on over bare metal. Epoxy, bondo/filler, more epoxy, and then a 2K sandable primer is what I have done. Eastwood sells a good epoxy primer that is a lot cheaper than anything at the parts stores, just FYI.
