As long as you vee groove the joint out, so you get good penatration. It would probably be fine, as long as that is a weldable steel. That darker brown finish, ( if that's the natural finish ) rather than Grey. Makes it look very similar to 1144 sp, which doesn't have good welding properties.

It looks like a pretty simple part, at least on that one end. You might look into having a local machinist making you a duplicate of it. As one option.
