if i remember correctly, a pin with a cotter pin is what is holding mine. i put the cheyenne trim on my pedals a few years ago, and this is what i remember being there. a bolt and nut would work if it is not so tight as to limit the movement of the pedal. and dont forget the spring, or you'll have hanging pedal syndrome, and no one wants that!
