Cotter pin makes more sense. Where is this spring you speak of? I didn't see any in that area. I actually think I need to have the pedal off the floor more as I don't think I'm getting WOT when its down all the way. You can lift the pedal off the floor about another inch. I think its needs to be lifted, the the end of the throttle cable moved more forward to keep the pedal that way.
