So, yesterday I got the rear bearing installed on the pinion gear shaft. I heated the bearing in a toaster oven for about an hour on convection at 450 deg. I also decided to put the shaft in the freezer. I put the spacers on and the bearing slid on like hot butter. then installed the gear into place with the crush sleeve, outer bearing, rear seal, and the yoke. then the washer and nut. I tightened the assembly as tight as I could and now I'm ready to torque everything down but I forgot to pick up the tool I need to hold the assembly while I torque things down to spec. I need to get around 150 lbs torque or more to set the 20-25 in/lb of resistance on the rotation. I will have the part tomorrow so I'm taking the day off from the truck. I've also installed the ring gear and torqued it to spec and the side bearings have been pressed on, just waiting to finish the pinion.
