Say what you want about Bakersfield but they have some darn good restaurants there.
We go to a place called Grandmas Tamales. It's not a great looking place but the food is to die for. You can see them making fresh tortillas for your order. Nothing beats fresh. But order the mild salsa, the one they give you is really hot. The mild is hot but the hot is scorching hot. It'll make you sweat and then your head will explode.
My wife worked in Bakersfield and her coworkers gave her the hot tips of where to get good food. I'm usually in a food coma when we come back up the canyon.
